"That's not blogging, that's tweeting". As was that.

INGRATE

I think I under-use this place because I want posts to be worked up and finished - scraps, stray thoughts, drafts end up elsewhere or gathering dust. Want to start being less fussy. Anyway - you're on tumblr - that's just pinterest with ideas above its station ;)

Yes, Pinterest is certainly for people who find Tumblr too highbrow.

And I'm hypocritical more than ungrateful. I've always valued economy, favoured aphorisms, epigrams, one-liners - maybe too much - always mocked the Mavis Beacon school of blogging. But the cognitive style of Twitter (was it Iannucci who described comedy writing as sitting in a room writing sentences with a suprise at the end?) only allows for a certain kind of thought - lapidary, finalised, like those 'scraps' of yours that would've been longer if you'd had less time &c - and you can see that style beginning to crowd out others.

Or at least, I began to suspect it in myself and your post popped up in the RSS reader just as I wanted to externalise that, so - cheers!
